PSW IV is locked and loaded
Everything is taken care of for the fourth edition of this amazing series of trips:
Saturday, November 12 (TBA) - Illinois Fighting Illini vs Michigan Wolverines (Memorial Stadium)
Sunday, November 13 (12pm) - Chicago Bears vs Detroit Lions (Soldier Field)
Sunday, November 13 (6pm) - Chicago Blackhawks vs Edmonton Oilers (United Center)
The only lingering question is what time we leave for Champaign. If the game is at 11am, we may just drive up Friday night and get a crappy hotel somewhere close (it's a 5 hour drive). We may also decide to be mountain men and drive up morning of (not a fan of this idea). If the game is at 2:30pm, we most definitely are driving up Saturday morning. After the game, we will return our rental car in Chicago and check in our hotel. Sunday will be packed with two games before we fly back to BNA early on Monday morning. I love 1.5 hour flights! Check out our seat locations after the jump.
Perfect Sports Weekend II: Dallas
November 19-21, 2010
Bigger, but somewhat less perfect.
Dallas Mavericks vs Chicago Bulls (American Airlines Center) w/ Jonathan, Ian, Andrew and his friend
Dallas Stars vs Colorado Avalanche (American Airlines Center) w/ Jonathan, Ian, Andrew and Andy
Dallas Cowboys vs Detroit Lions (Cowboys Stadium) w/ Jonathan, Ian, Andrew and Andy
I labelled this PSW as "Bigger, but somewhat less perfect" for good reason... only ONE team from Michigan! Oh and we DROVE instead... that made it a lot less perfect. In retrospect, it was the weekend of weak crowds, good food, and great hospitality by Ian's family.
Feel free to check out the pictures here or continue on for the walls of text after the jump.
Perfect Sports Weekend: Michigan
Sept 17-21, 2010
Michigan Wolverines vs UMass Minutemen (The Big House) w/ Ian
Detroit Lions vs Philadelphia Eagles (Ford Field) w/ Ian
Detroit Tigers vs Kansas City Royals (Comerica Park) w/ Ian, Aunt Jennifer, Isaac and his buddy Jeff.
This was an amazing trip, for sure. I got to go to the newly renovated Big House and both new Detroit stadiums for the first time. If you want to skip the numerous words and get right to pictures, you can click here and be a dick. I will have to be honest and admit I'm writing this in July 2011... so ya, I may have forgotten some things.
The “perfect” sports weekend…
I have been on a quest the past few years to take a single weekend trip to Michigan and catch a UM football game, Lions game and Tigers game. The NFL schedule was just released and I had originally penciled in the weekend of Sept 24-26 as the only potential weekend. The Wolverines are playing Bowling Green on 9/25 and the Tigers play the Twins the 25th & 26th. Unfortunately, the Lions play an away game on 9/26.
Thanks to some keen eyes by my friend Ian, the dream is still alive!
Saturday 9/18 - Michigan vs UMASS
Sunday 9/19 - Lions vs Eagles
Monday 9/20 - Tigers vs Royals
The only question left is... who's with me?!?
